Wellington Footlights is proud to debut the New Zealand Premiere of Ryan Scott Oliver's "35mm: A Musical Exhibition".
They say a picture is worth a thousand words but this show says so much more. Through an exploration of genre and theme, audiences will experience an array vignettes, moments stopped in time and captured in film.
This show absolutely has something for everyone and is being brought to life by the incredible vocalists of 35mm:
The Wellington Footlights Society is proud to present the New Zealand Premiere of the artistically daring and emotionally compelling 35MM: A Musical Exhibition by Ryan Scott Oliver. Representing a collision of artistic disciplines of musical theatre, photography, and pop/rock music, 35MM turns the musical theatre format on its head, presenting a song cycle that guarantees audience members a truly irrepeatable experience. 35MM is Oliver’s love letter, not just to the idiosyncrasies of life and how our attempts to capture it, but also to the work of his husband, Matthew Murphy. Murphy is the creative mind behind most modern Broadway portraits and publicity photography, including Hamilton, Moulin Rouge, and Beetlejuice.
35MM is a one act song cycle blending musical genres which tells the stories of twelve photographs, projected around the theatre for audiences to feel immersed in those stories. From the small nuances of long term relationships in the rock-tinged duet ‘You Make Me Happy,’ to the gothic all cast number ‘Ballad of Sara Berry,’ no avenue is not strayed down to explore what might have happened in the moments after the split second captured on film.
The exploration of theme and genre as we explore this musical gallery is a spectacle not to be missed. There is truly something for everyone, and we cannot wait to share this production with the Wellington community.

Destiny's Cousin, the beloved a capella pop superstar group, haven't performed together since parting ways in the mid-00s. Each of the members has been off to pursuing independent projects:
But the gals have fallen on hard times, and they've decided to put the band back together and go back to where it all began: Wellington, New Zealand. Join your favourite pop starlet supergroup in the concert of a lifetime: all the hits, none of the instruments.
Destiny's Cousin: The Reunion Spectacular is a one-act concert event devised and performed by Cassandra Tse, Ellie Stewart, Renée Iosefa and Catherine Gavigan-Binnie. Pushing both comedy and musicianship to the forefront of the experience. You’ll get to know the beloved personalities of New Zealand’s most successful a capella pop group as they perform the 80s, 90s and 00s hits you may have first heard from the likes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, the Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child.
This show is a love letter to the magic of a capella singing, the unifying force of the music we grew up dancing to and the power of four-part friendship.
